In recent years the demand for high-quality MDC doctor blades tremendously increased in the Peoples Republic of China. The increasing overall demand at the fastest growing market as well as the very good connections to the Chinese printing industry paved the way for MDC Max Daetwyler AG of Bleienbach/CH to invest in this region. Therefore, in January

2003 MDC Daetwyler (China) Ltd commenced production of doctor blades in Shanghai. This is the third production site of the company besides the Swiss headquarters and the facility in the USA.

The new China facility is supported by Daetwyler Graphics of Singapore and Sunny Development of Hongkong, two important partners in the successful Daetwyler machinery business. Their support and know how is of significant and strategic importance within the doctor blade business.

In China the manufacturing of MDC doctor blades is performed under the subject of the rigid Swiss regulations. Moreover, the company offers »round the clock« technical service for both flexo and gravure printers in mainland China. This service is dedicated to solve printing problems or to give reasonable consulting on the spot.

To penetrate the huge Chinese market, an agreement has been obtained very fast among the partners. The existing sales and service network, which has been founded by Sunny Development and consists of local representatives all over the country, will be further enlarged. The mutual co-operation among Sunny Development, the local representatives and MDC China facilitates delivery within a few hours time to every place everywhere in the country.

The Chinese printing industry appreciates this activity, as the co-operation with such an experienced company like MDC results in a remarkable gain in equipment quality. This is even more viable, as it goes along with local representation.
