BASF Printing Systems has improved its wash-out solution for flexo printing plates. Consisting of hydrocarbons and alcohol, the new three-component nylosolv® A allows fast, gentle and environment-friendly printing plate processing. The higher flash point means more safety in processing and storage. Printing plates can now be washed out at temperatures up to 40 °C (104 °F) which also reduces the wash-out times. So it's possible to save time and cut costs.

Shorter wash-out times mean less swelling of the finished plates. The result: Better tolerances on the thickness of the finished plate, cleaner dot shoulders and greater depths of the printing elements – in short, an optimum profile and thus excellent results in printing. All commonly used wash-out units from BASF can be prepared for use with a higher wash-out temperature. nylosolv® A can easily be distilled under vacuum in all appropriately equipped distillers. Complete distillation ensures a composition that is nearly identical to new solvent. Previously required testing of recycled solution is no longer needed. In addition the product is more efficient and lasts much longer. nylosolv® A is suited for all conventional and digital flexo printing plates commonly offered on the market.
