Arrowbond Ultra for fl exographic and gravure laminations
Flint Ink, the world’s largest privately owned printing ink manufacturer, has announced the release of new Arrowbond Ultra ink, a highperformance laminating ink system for fl exographic and gravure printing. The multifunctional ink system increases print effi ciencies and reduces costs for packaging converters and printers producing a wide range of demanding packaging applications.
“Arrowbond Ultra represents the next-generation of lamination inks,” says Michael Impastato, vice president, market development, Flint Ink North America. “Many lamination inks provide high bond values, but do not offer good printability. Our new ink system is unique in the market by offering high bond values and low retained solvents, while achieving unsurpassed colour strengths and superior print results. The growing number of fi lms, increased complexity of packaging applications, and the importance of effi cient pressroom management require fewer ink systems that do more.
The unique chemistry of Arrowbond Ultra makes it suitable for many different fi lms and applications, including heavy gauge constructions and packages undergoing secondary heat applications, such as zipper pouches. “Arrowbond Ultra’s ability to fi t end-use requirements for many different applications and its suitability for a wide range of fi lms will enable companies to realise a signifi cant business advantage,” says Dan Collins, marketing director, fl exible packaging,
Flint Ink North America. “Companies will benefi t from reduced costs and increased production effi ciency by limiting the number of ink systems they need to work with.” Arrowbond Ultra has been developed for printing high quality images with fi ne aniloxes. It is suitable for high-performance lamination structures, including polyethylene, nylon, treated, PVDC and acrylic coated polypropylene, and chemical and corona treated polyesters. The ink is available in process, line and fade resistant colours. Founded in 1920, Flint Ink is the largest privately owned printing ink manufacturer in the world. The corporation is organised into eight segments and operates nearly 100 facilities worldwide, employing approximately 4600 people. The company’s annual sales are currently in excess of USD$1.4 billion worldwide.
